Louise Barth has an exceptional set of skills and experience
A chartered quantity surveyor, Louise worked in the construction industry for 10 years, on commercial developments in London and the home counties.
She then spent 20 years in the property investment and real estate sector, working with the UK’s leading capital allowances provider. This gave her indepth understanding of capital allowances law and practice. And she never stops refreshing those skills, keeping on top of all new legislation and developments.
With her combination of accounting and construction experience, Louise felt frustrated by the number of companies that were paying more tax than they needed to.
In 2017 she founded Barth Consulting, to provide independent advice to large corporates, SMEs and individual investors. Since 2017, Barth Consulting has helped numerous business owners, accountants and other capital allowances providers across the UK.
How we helped a new client
A new client got in touch to ask if we could help them with their capital allowances claim on their building project expenditure. They were keen to reduce the overall cost of the project by reducing their tax liability.
Business was going well, and sales had increased to the point they had outgrown their existing space. Rather than move to new premises they decided to build an extension.
This was quite an undertaking and a large investment for the business. Whilst Capital Allowances were very much on their radar they were not confident of getting it right because of the ever-changing rules. There were temporary Covid19 allowances, and several budgets to take into consideration.
We identified a considerable amount of allowances for them, saving them thousands of pounds.
This low-risk approach gives clients peace of mind and valuable time back to concentrate on what they do best.
It’s easy to find out if your company is entitled to additional tax relief
Louise says,
“The devil’s in the detail. Most accountants simply can’t define the construction components that are eligible for capital allowances, let alone keep up to date with the ever-changing legislation. And for me it’s a real shame, when so many businesses are struggling, that 80% of companies aren’t claiming the R&D relief they’re entitled to.”
”Louise has always provided an efficient, personal and reliable service and presented the claims in a clear format that our accountants have be able to utilise in the company accounts without further question.
